One of the most recognisable landmarks on the island (which is even recognisable on the final approach before landing!) is the magnificent 14th Century Gothic Cathedral at nearby Palma. For a quieter holiday you may be better off heading to the North Coast of the island to Alcudia. Some parts of the town date back to around 1300, but for many people, they don’t realise that it was the Greeks and Phoenicians that first settled on the island, followed in the Romans in approximately 2nd century BC who actually made Alcudia the capital! The tourist resort area has grown over the last 40 years and covers the Western Bay of Alcudia which covers over 8km through Playa de Muro and to the C;an Picafort in the east. Whilst in Majorca you can visit the Artestruz Mallorca (which is an ostrich farm) in the centre of the island, from feeding to riding the ostrich you can expect to have a great day out with the family.
