With a population of over 100,000 people, the city of Ourense makes up approximately 30% of the province, Galicia. The history of the town originates back to the Romans. It was also rebuilt by Alfonso III of Asturias around 877, after the city was destroyed in 716 by the Moors.

In terms of tourist destinations, the town of Ourense’s most important monument is the cathedral. Founded in 572 and rebuilt in the 13th century, it’s the second oldest in the province of Galicia.

Weather in the town varies from the lows of zero degrees celsius to highs of 42 degrees celsius. The lows rarely do happen, but if they do it’s usually around the winter time.
